About

What is user feedback?

User feedback is the real-life perspective of someone who has actually used, experienced, or interacted with something.

It can be a review, reaction, recommendation, observation, complaint, compliment, question, or idea — anything that communicates what the user experienced and what they think could be better.

And that's the important part: feedback doesn't have to mean something is wrong. Something can be good and still have an opportunity to be better.

Good is good. Better is better.

Solicited or unsolicited, feedback is simply a user's perspective. Sometimes someone asks for it but more often than not - people like me, just can't help themselves.

Why is sharing feedback a form of caring?

Because giving feedback means you care enough to say something.

If you didn't care, you could simply walk away.

Feedback takes time, thought, and usually a little bit of vulnerability.

Whether you're sharing something you loved, pointing out something that didn't work, or suggesting a way to make something better - you are giving someone information they can use.

I always strive to have a strong sense of self awareness and a growth mindset.

By embracing the fact that I am NOT perfect - there is always an opportunity to be better, and the fiber of my being wants to do and be my best.

Is it the AuDHD or was it all the years of playing competitive sports? Probably both. Either way, they seem to work together and give me the DRIVE to be better and make things better.

How else are we going to know what is working, what isn't, or what could be better unless someone tells us?

Feedback is caring when there is good intent.

How should feedback be used?

You always have the right to accept or decline feedback.

Feedback is a perspective, not a command.

Just because someone gives you feedback doesn't mean they're right. And just because you listen to feedback doesn't mean you have to change something.

Feedback is based on someone's experience, expectations, preferences, and perspective. What works perfectly for one person might be frustrating to another. What one person thinks is an obvious improvement might actually make the experience worse for someone else.

That's why feedback should be considered, not automatically accepted.

The value of feedback isn't necessarily in doing what someone tells you to do, it’s in having another perspective to consider.

Good feedback can confirm that you're on the right track. It can uncover something you didn't see. It can inspire a completely different idea. Or it can make you realize that the thing you were doing actually was the right thing all along.

When is feedback given?

Feedback can be given anytime.

It can happen before, during, or after an experience—and sometimes long after you've walked away from it.

  • Feedback can happen before someone even uses something. Questions, expectations, preferences, and suggestions can all provide valuable insight into what a user wants or needs.

  • Feedback can happen while someone is actively using or experiencing something. This is when users notice what works, what doesn't, what is confusing, or what makes an experience surprisingly great.

  • Feedback is often given after the experience is over. Reviews, ratings, recommendations, complaints, compliments, surveys, and conversations with friends are all forms of feedback.
